Your Pre-Operative Visit

Depending on your medical history, your surgeon may want you to visit our Fit for Surgery Center. At the Fit for Surgery Center, a health care provider will help make sure you are ready for surgery. This will help us reduce risks and increase your safety during and after surgery.

What can you expect at a Fit for Surgery Visit?

Your Fit for Surgery visit may include the following:

  • A review of your health history
  • A physical exam
  • A review of past and recent tests ordered by your doctors
  • A review of all medications you are taking
  • A review of medications you should or should not take prior to surgery
  • Additional tests as needed to make sure it is safe to continue with surgery
  • Referral to a specialty provider if needed
  • An opportunity to address any concerns about the upcoming surgery

How do you get ready for your Fit for Surgery visit?

Items that will help us evaluate your readiness for surgery. Please bring:

  • Any paperwork from your surgeon or primary care physician
  • Any paperwork from a heart or lung specialist if you see one
  • Accurate list of current medications (including over-the-counter, supplements, and herbal) and the dosages you take
  • Name and phone number of all pharmacies you use
  • A list of ALL current physicians with their phone and fax numbers
  • Any other medical information you feel would be important
  • Insurance information
