Day Camp Promotes Healthy Lifestyle for Children

Registration is now open for Camp Fun n’ Fit, an annual health and fitness summer day camp for children ages 6-11. Camp Fun n’ Fit is designed to promote healthy, active lifestyles by encouraging campers to participate in activities that are fun and playful, including swimming, Zumba, yoga, sports and games. Campers will also learn about proper nutrition and participate in weekly field trips.

The camp – sponsored by Wellness Center, Navicent Health – will take place weekdays June 18-29 and July 9-20 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Middle Georgia State University (100 University Parkway, Macon). With no minimum attendance required, children may attend up to four weeks of the camp. The cost is $185.00 per week, and the registration fee includes all field trips, classes, supplies, daily lunch and snacks, and a t-shirt.

To register, pick up a registration form at Wellness Center, Navicent Health (3797 Northside Drive, Macon) or visit www.navicenthealth.org/wellnesscenter.

“Studies show that children who build healthy habits early in life lead healthier lives as they age, minimizing their chances for obesity and conditions associated with obesity, including diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and stroke. Camp Fun n’ Fit trains children to make those healthy choices, encouraging active lifestyles and good nutritional habits,” said Dr. Edward Clark, Chief of Pediatrics for Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital, Navicent Health.
