Navicent Health Prepares to “Paint the Town Pink” for Breast Cancer Awareness

A Month-long Series of Community Events Planned for October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month  

MACON, GA (Monday, October 6, 2014) – Approximately 1 in 8 women and 1 in 1,000 men in the United States will develop breast cancer at some point in their lives, but thanks to improving treatments and early detection, many of these patients will survive. In order to promote breast cancer awareness and education, Breast Care Center, Navicent Health has prepared a month-long celebration during October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The following is a schedule of events and festivities:

  • Monday, Oct. 6
  • “Look Good, Feel Better
  • ”6 p.m. – 8 p.m
  • .Lanier Building, 1062 Forsyth St., Macon
  • Assistance for cancer patients coping with appearance-related side effects of chemotherapy and radiation

  • Wednesday, Oct. 8:
  • Proclamation with Mayor Robert Reichert
  • 2 p.m
  • .Macon-Bibb Government Center, 700 Poplar St., Macon
  • This is not a public event, but media are invited to attend.


  • Friday, Oct. 10
  • Pink Pancakes & Petals
  • 8 a.m. – 10 a.m.
  • Carlyle Place, Navicent Health – 5300 Zebulon Rd., Macon
  • Donate $5 to enjoy a pink pancake breakfast and place a carnation into the fountain of hope

  • Saturday, Oct. 11:
  • Yoga for all fitness levels
  • 10:15 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.

  • Official “Wear Pink Day” in Macon

  • No appointment necessary, but a physician’s order is required
