Pediatric Psychology

Dr. Michael R. Johns, Psy. D. offers a wide range of psychological services including assessment and treatment for patients of all ages and those with most clinical challenges, including:

  • Anxiety disorders (e.g., generalized anxiety, panics, phobias, OCD)
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Complications of or challenges related to chronic medical illness (e.g., diabetes, blood disorders, cancer)
  • Other developmental disorders (e.g., intellectual delay, genetic disorders)
  • Learning disorders (specific academic weaknesses, dyslexia, etc.)
  • Mood disorders (e.g., depression, bipolar disorder)

We provide the following evaluation and assessment psychological and neuropsychological testing types:

  • Developmental (birth to age 5 years)
  • Emotional/behavioral functioning
  • Ruling in or out specific conditions like autism
  • Educational (to assess for learning disabilities)
  • Legal or forensic (e.g., custody, competency, guardianship)

Our team utilizes evaluation results to guide treatment, referrals, etc.

Direct treatment includes individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy. We utilize empirically supported treatments in session such as cognitive-behavioral therapy and parent-training approaches. We focus on working with individual patients and, as appropriate, their families to maintain and optimize patient adjustment in their everyday settings.
