Dr. Bill Tift has practiced general pediatrics in Macon and at the Medical Center since 1976. He has served three times as the elected Chair of Pediatrics at the Children's Hospital and more recently as Chief of the Medical Staff at Medical Center Navicent Health. He is a member of the Bibb County Medical Society, a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and has served on the Executive Committee of the Georgia Chapter of the Academy. He has published scientific articles in the fields of Cardiology, Gastroenterology, and Infectious Disease. Dr. Tift grew up in Macon and attended the Bibb County public schools. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History of Music from Yale University and his Doctor of Medicine Degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He was a pediatric resident for two years at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, serving his third year at the Hospital for Sick Children in Great Ormond Street, London. He then was the Chief of Pediatrics at the US Naval Hospital at MCAS Cherry Point prior to moving back to Macon to start his private practice. Currently Dr. Tift practices pediatrics, adolescent medicine and pediatric allergy as the Senior and Founding Partner of Primary Pediatrics, PC. He is an avid golfer, fly fisherman, banjo picker, husband, father, and grandfather.
